Two Interview

I have read the script of Mubarak's interview with the Israeli TV and thank God that I have not watched from two days ago on TV because I would not have tolerated it.The only interesting part in it when Mubarak was asked about his birthday !!!
I believe Mubarak should not have commented about Hezbollah in the first ,yes he said that the matter in the hands of the judicial system but ..
But attacking Hezbollah directly in the Israeli TV won't make him Mr. Popular leader in the Arab or Islamic World !!
Of course I am speaking as if he really cares about his popularity in the Arab or Muslim world !! It is enough that his regime is standing with the blockade of Gaza
Ironically Mubarak admitted that Hezbollah was transferring weapons to Gaza !!
BY the way I felt that as if Mubarak was defending himself concerning the weapons thing , saying that well it is smuggled through sea too !!! Come on the weapons are smuggled through Israel itself !!
Financial Times published on its website an interview with Sheikh Naim Qassem , in a rare interview I believe to Western Media. Of course I should hint out that the famous newspaper is saying that "Hizbollah and its allies stand a good chance of winning the June 7 parliamentary elections!!" where as we are continuing to bet on the wrong horses in the wrong race over and over !!
Again Hezbollah through Qassem admits that it was and is helping Hamas with all its possible powers including arms.
Back to Mubarak's interview I remember he wondered why Hezbollah chose Egypt , of course it is not a smart wonder because choosing Egypt makes sense because Hamas Government is not in the West Bank nor in Golan !! Hello !!??

  1. Again, Mubarak is not a good president but he is the best we can get, i tell this as a Coptic citizen, may be he doesn't protect Copts nor making the country a good place but still he doesn't believe in eliminating Copts or selling the country out to Islamists, till we are breathing we will keep voting for him and his dynasty.

  2. Mubarak is BAD PRESIDENT! He and his cronies stole Egyptian people of their rights to live, money and future! You think Mubarak cares if you are Coptic or Muslims? What he cares more is about his luxury life, his children and to make sure Gamal succeeded him after he step down and who knows when coz it seems forever!!! If we are to compare Egypt to Malaysia, Malaysia has gone way progress for its people than Egypt, Mubarak ruled same time as the Prime Minister of Malaysia but what progress did he bring to Egypt..nothing! where does all the money from Tourism and Suez Canal, overseas aid bringing billions for the country? Egyptian passport is worth nothing to other countries and traveling is difficult for any Egyptians unless you are really rich or you have big cable to help you, if not forget about going abroad! Egypt used to be beautiful, rich and respected country but not under Mubarak!!! Under Mubarak WE SEE POVERTY, UNEMPLOYMENT, SOCIAL CRISIS, NO FREEDOM OF SPEECH, NO LAW COZ LAW IS ONLY PROTECTING THE RICH, BAD MEDICAL SERVICES, QUALITY OF EDUCATION IS BAD UNLESS YOU ARE RICH, PASSPORT IS WORTHLESS UNLESS YOU ARE RICH OR WELL CONNECTED, PROSTITUTION MORE THAN EVER, DRUGS, SIDED WITH ISRAEL, SO WHAT IS GOOD ABOUT HIM BEING THE PRESIDENT!

  4. It is a sad reality to any examiner (with a brain) to Egypt's modern history to find that no leader matches Mohamed Ali's contribution,in spite of two centuries passing. Yes he was a dictator. He was, however, a dictator with a brain and heart focusing on the goods of the country more than his own glory. I can't recall religious descrimination issues associated with his regime. I don't think anyone of so called leaders (with one exception) can stand to his standard. The one exception, unfortunately, had a ver short term , I am referring to Muhamed Naguib. All the rest are disasters, corrupts, greedy leaders with no morals. You can lump Mubarak, MB, and the rest into that bag

  5. @Ohio couldn't agree more! Muhamed Naguib was the first President of Egypt and unfortunately Gamal Abdel Nasser destroyed this good man and leader after what he has done for them the revolutionary officers during the 1952 revolution. You could find a very interesting articles on him here @ Zeinobia site. Very interesting indeed! May his soul rest in Jannah insyallah. As for Mubarak glory all I can see his and his wife names on every buildings, libraries or schools in the country! Glory on 1973 war, thanked to the President Sadat for his genius plan! A good leader would love his country more than anything by providing good life, good future, respect and progressing developing his country just like Emirates! Look at India now, they have come a long way but they are now second best country after China. The middle class in Egypt is almost disappearing big time and the rich are getting richer and poor are getting poorer!

@Zeinobia, no need to tell Bastiwisi, any brainy person could see what is going on around the country and see how bleak is their future! we would not loose so many young Egyptians at the sea or suicides if the country is such a good shape to live in! No offense but this is reality!

  6. Anonymous extols Malaysia's success which took place under a "benevolent dictator."Do you believe that free spirited Egyptians would have tolerated or worked well with the absolute police state that exists in Malaysia? Follow this link to an interesting interview:

  7. Glad to read anonymous' concurring. I disadgree however, with mixing Emeriate among successeful and good examples. The reason is ;Ok they started with huge wealth from oil in the region, what did the use it for? building tallest tower, biggest malls, expensive cars on the streets, what else?? Did they promote education? did they build respectable class university, did they build first class hospital with medical research facility? How many of the local citizens are pursuing higher education? why they don't build respectable factories using ME youngs and provide products to ME countries? They live in hollywood movie, shortly the END will come and eality hits the spectators. Lebanon lived slightly similar drama.

  8. @Ohio, well I believe that King Farouk and Sadat were not that bad in the 20th century too. Mohamed Ali example is hard to find now I am afraid but who knows , nobody expected him to do what he did then !!

@anonymous Emirates with my all respect to you and them is not a good example or model just like Ohio said later , it is a national renaissance but rather imported one.

@Misrcribe, with my all respect the Egyptians have been always ruled by dictators since the time of the pharaohs , I will welcome someone like Mahathir Mohamad if he will turn my country in the same way he turned Malaysia in to an Asian tiger. It will not harm to try some new class of dictators !!

I dont know from where you got your source or did you ever read the Malaya history regarding Singapore and Malaya? if not please go ahead do your research before accusing the Malaysian Government benevolent dictator. the link you are referring have nothing to do with the Malaysian Government and it was an interview with the former Singapore Prime Minister. Singapore and Malaya have long history so if there is something negative in his interviewed that is understandable! Ever since the May 13, 1969, the Malaysian Government have been very cautions in governing the country so that the same incident will not happen again to the country and that is why we have ISA to maintain the peaceful of the country but not 'Police State' as your pointed out!

Have you been to Kuala Lumpur and have you seen the Malaysians life before making your conclusion that the people of Malaysia didnt have free spirited life or live in fear! As far as I know there are a lot of Egyptian people doing business and wanted to live in Malaysia the 'State Police' as your proclaimed! We even have 'little Egypt' in Kuala Lumpur and Egyptian, Iranian, Lebanese restaurants in Bukit Bintang which is now known as an Arab area. For you info there is Korean area, Chinese Town and Indian town in Kuala Lumpur.

The ruling Government of Malaysia is the longest serving freely elected Government in the world and represents all groups of people found within the country. The country has long been one of the safest and most politically stable countries in the world by strictly practicing the British system of justice set out in its constitution. This rule of law has enabled the development of an open, democratic society with constitutional guarantees to practice all religions.

Malaysia is a multi-racial country, every races lives side by side with different cultures, customs and religions with harmony and the last Prime Minister were told to step down because he was not performing well as his previous Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed and now thru' new democratic election, Malaysia have new Prime Minister.

Malaysia till today a Monachy country with King as Head of State rotated every five years and if Malaysia a 'police state' as you proclaimed, there will never be democracy election and there will never be an open house hosted by the King at the Palace, Prime Minister residence and the Ministers' residences during Eid festival. Hindu or Chinese New Year every year for its people and tourists! I dont see the free spirited Egyptian government open their residences to their people in Egypt for Eid or any occasion for all I know. So please keep your fact straight!

@Zeinobia, thank you for your compliment and I have great respect for the former Malaysia Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed and he was a democratic elected Prime Minister who is loved by his people until today and very well know all over the world for his greatness in developing Malaysia especially during the 1997 Asian financial crisis and he also has his own blog where people of Malaysia could communicate and express their thoughts to him.

@Ohio, I could understand your views regarding Emirates but at least they did something to their country and the people. They have the highest living standard in the world, education and medical are free for its people and way better than Egypt, Emirates has increased spending on job creation and infrastructure expansion and is opening up utilities to greater private sector involvement and has attracted workers from Africa, ME, European and western countries though they have problem with human rights issues. The UAE's strategic plan for the next few years focuses on diversification and creating more opportunities for nationals through improved education and increased private sector employment. So there is good and bad about Emirates but not as bad in Egypt.

  10. Anonymous;
There are great differences between the potentials opportunities available to UAE and what Egypt ever had in the last hundred years, considering population numbers versus limited resources. UAE soon will become another Caaman island, and Syngapore with protected banking systems to cushons dirty money away from sources in US, Europes, Asia and Russia. Lebanon lived that scenario before. You see with enormous resources, very small population numbers, and oustide sources wanted to use your arena for their dirty purpose, a politically incompetent system won't be so visible. Ask yourself why Caaman island, Syngapore, or even Switzerland are relatively safe and stable?
