H1N1 Follow Up :Final Numbers

Here are the final numbers of H1N1 infection and death cases as reported by the WHO on the 22nd July 2009 in Egypt :

  • Total Laboratory confirmed cases reported by the state parties : 157
  • Total deaths reported by the States parties : 1

Surprisingly Saudi Arabia heads Egypt in the numbers of H1N1 confirmed cases “232” yet Egypt has the only fatal case.

Here is the Eastern Mediterranean Region latest updates report from the WHO with numbers.

The WHO despite the spread of the virus in 160 countries in the world and killing about 800 people since its outbreak in Mexico said that the behavior of the virus far did not change and that there was no mutation for the virus the time being.

Back to our fatal case in Egypt ,  the husband of the deceased is insisting in press and TV that his wife did not die from H1N1 claiming that the ministry of health was using his wife as an alibi to cancel the Omra and Hajj season and that she died from her heart problems. The health ministry had to fire back and said that what the man has said was a lie and that his wife was H1N1 positive. Of course I must hint out the claims of the husband were like adding oil to the fire , many people believe him because they do not trust the government in general and they see it as a secular government that wants to cancel Omra and Hajj after cancelling the Mawlids this year.

The Egyptian ministry of health did not cancel the Hajj season as expected nor it affected the Omra season on the contrary , the only thing it could make was to reach with Saudi Arabia and other Arabic countries to a decision limiting the age of pilgrims , but this is not a new thing I believe.

Of course I think if things get worse God forbids and the virus is mutated to worse Saudi Arabia has all the rights theologically to cancel the Omra and Hajj
